Yak ‘N Snack is the light meal served to high school students and catechists before Religious Education classes meet on Sunday evenings. Many students attend the 5:30 p.m. Mass and appreciate being fed and having time to enjoy each other’s company before they are released to their classrooms. Students who do not plan to eat, should still attend as this is when important announcements are made each week.
The supper is provided and served by parents who usually form teams of two families to sign up for one or more weeks during the year. Some of the past menus have included pizza, baked potato bar, sloppy joes, sub sandwiches, pasta dishes, tacos or taco salads, pork barbeque sandwiches, chicken, spaghetti, etc. Dessert is usually cookies, brownies, cupcakes or sometimes fruit. Youth Ministry provides drinks and paper products and assistance with clean-up.
