January 2011

For 2011 make a spiritual New Year’s Resolution! Make a commitment to read the Catechism in 2011. Many participated in the “Year of the Bible” during 2010 and can now proudly say that they have read the entire Bible! Now with the Year of the Catechism we can continue to learn more about our rich and traditional Catholic faith by making a commitment to reading the Catechism.

Resources available to guide you on your spiritual journey:

USCCB on-line Catechism

Below you will find links that will take you straight to the Vatican web-site that has the readings for each day.  You won’t have to doing any searching, you can just follow the link.  You may have to hit “Next” if the numbers for that day go on to a second page.  Another benefit of these links, is that the Vatican’s online addition also has a built-in concordance for your use.

Blessed be God in His angels and in His saints!

I congratulate you for taking on the challenge to join us in The Year of the Catechism. This is a great opportunity to make a commitment to continue to become one with Jesus, and His bride, the Church. As His bride, the Church is our Mother and teacher. Like any good mother she desires to nurture and teach us the ways of her Son and ultimately our proper path to heaven.

Throughout the year we will meet to discuss what we are reading. This will allow us to meet others in our Catholic community who are also working to continue to know, love and serve God in a deeper way. Our first opportunity to come together is tonight, Wednesday, January 5 at 6:30 pm at St. Joan of Arc in the school library. Tonight I will kick-off the Winter Family Initiative priests’ class with “Why the Bible? Why the Catechism? And why do we need the Catechism if we have the Bible? I would love to see you at my class tonight. If you cannot attend tonight’s class it will be available on both St. Joan of Arc and St. Patrick websites.

Remember to persevere in your spiritual New Year’s resolution to read the Catechism of the Catholic Church this year! You are in my prayers.

In the hearts of Jesus, Mary and Joseph,
Fr. Ted Dudzinski
Pastor
