K-8 Religious Education

It is now a parish policy that for a child to receive their sacraments they must be enrolled and shown to have attended every year of religious education.  Each year religious education builds upon itself.  We have found that when a child tries to enter the confirmation program after having NOT attended religious education since First Holy Communion, we have to begin at a remedial level which causes further frustration for those who have been engaged in Religious Education. Sacramental Information Form

The K-8 Religious Education provides religious formation and sacramental preparation for Catholic children. The curriculum parallels the preparation provided to those students attending Sts. Joan of Arc and Patrick School. Presently, classes are conducted from 10:30 to 11:45 am on Sundays, offering convenient opportunity for participant and their family to attend Mass at 9 am or Noon. Contact Tami Maurer for more information (tmaurer@saintjoan.org) or 865-9964.

If you are interested in teaching Religious Education, please contact: (tmaurer@saintjoan.org or 865-9964).

First Communion: First Communion is a two year program at St. Joan of Arc. Children who are not enrolled in the school must have attended Sunday Religious Education (SRE) classes the year prior to receiving the sacrament. They must be enrolled in the 2nd grade SRE class and have good attendance.

The first session months are September, October, and November, with the parent/child retreat in December and First Reconciliation in December.  The next session months are January, February, and March with the parent/child retreat in April and First Communion in May.  The program is designed to assist parents in the preparation of their children for the reception of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.

Any questions should be directed to Tami Maurer, Coordinator of Religious Education at tmaurer@saintjoan.org or 865-9964).

***REMINDER:  If you are unable to attend a class/session, it is your responsibility to call the parish office to inquire about a make-up session.  Attendance is required.***
