Return to home

Catholic Home Coming

If you are hesitant to come back to your Catholic faith after having been away for awhile please read what one of our Catholic Home Coming participants said about why he came to our sessions and why he is now back in full communion with the Church after 32 years!

“You can always come home, and the Catholic Home Coming will show you how in a real non-formal way. I came home after 30 years and it changed my life in a big way! It’s so amazing! You don’t want to miss this! Confession is what was missing from my life. I found a release from my past sins and forgiveness so that I could move forward in a whole and positive way. We all need to hear that we are forgiven. Life has new meaning for me and I know it can for you, so don’t miss this great opportunity. Come and be blessed!” – Mike Ginther, age 48.

Why do people return to their Catholic faith after being away?

Is something missing from your life?

Why do people return to their Catholic faith after being away?

Catholic Home Coming is a five-week series sponsored by St. Joan of Arc for those who have been away from the Church for whatever reason. The program will be offered each year beginning the week after Christmas, during the fall, and the week after Easter.  For details call Jan Marrah at 865-6684 or jmarrah@saintjoan.org . Your St. Joan of Arc Faith Community would love to have you come back home. We are praying that you will hear the Holy Spirit calling you to come to our Catholic Home Coming to learn more about your faith and have you say “yes” to returning in full communion with the Church!

“The Love of Christ Impels us!” (2 Corinthians 5:14)

Good Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Our Faith is a treasure that makes us shine with the radiating light of Christ and this light is so bright that it was never meant to be kept all for ourselves. The people living in our world are so hungry to know the Truth that saves, the Love that fulfills and the Light that shows the way, and they are unknowingly waiting for you to help them experience it! Thus, during this Advent season, as we prepare for the coming of our Lord Jesus as a helpless infant, make a resolution to be a beacon of hope for all those who may not know the living Lord Jesus… for a personal encounter with Christ is the most invaluable event in a human being’s life and God has chosen us individually to spread this Greatest Gift.

Let us resolve to reach out to those relatives, friends, and acquaintances that are inactive or non-practicing Catholics and let us ask Our Lady for necessary graces to make this approach.

“Do not be afraid! Open wide the doors to Christ!” Pope John Paul II

Lord, lover of mankind, Fill us with the love your Spirit gives.
May we live in a manner worthy of our calling; Make us witnesses of your truth to all men
and help us work to bring believers together in the unity of faith and the fellowship of peace.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen

TOP TEN REASONS TO COME BACK TO THE CATHOLIC CHURCH

10.  Because you want meaning in life.  In the rush of everyday living, has your life lost a sense of  meaning?

9.   Because childhood memories surface.  Has the secular world led you away from the simplicity of faith?

8.    Because you made mistakes.  Are you burdened with the weight of past mistakes?

7.    Because you need to forgive others.  Do you need God’s help in order to forgive others?

6.    Because you want to be healed.  Do you carry deep spiritual wounds that are stopping you from getting on with you life?

5.  Because the Catholic Church has the fullness of truth and grace.  Are you seeking the “Truth”?

4.  Because you want their children to have a faith foundation.  Do you need help instilling moral Christian values in the lives of your children in this secular world?

3.   Because you want to be part of a faith community.  Are you looking to join others as you walk toward union with God?

2.   Because you want to help other people.  Are you searching for tangible ways to “love your neighbor as yourself”?

1.  Because you hunger for the Eucharist.  Is God calling you back with a hunger that can only be satisfied in the presence of Christ in the Eucharist?
